Job description

We are seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Food Service Director to support the daily operations of a growing K-12 school nutrition program serving multiple school districts. The is an excellent opportunity for a food service professional who enjoys leadership, organization, and working in a fast-paced school environment.
The ideal candidate will assist the Food Service Director in all aspects of food service operations while helping ensure high standards of food quality, safety, compliance, and customer service across multiple locations.
Position Overview:
  • Position Type Full-time (40hrs).
  • Schedule: 10-Month Position (Summers Off).
  • Optional: Opportunity for 12 month employment available.
  • Travel: Candidate must be willing and able to travel between multiple school district/sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Food Service Director with daily operations of school nutrition programs.
  • Place food and supply orders with approved vendors.
  • Run and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels.
  • Count and input inventory accurately.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and labor management.
  • Create and update monthly school menus.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local school nutrition regulations.
  • Help maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Provide hands-on support in kitchens when needed, including food preparation and cooking.
  • Communicate effectively with school administrations, staff, and vendors.

Qualifications:
  • Previous food service management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior K-12 school food service experience is a strong plus.
  • Cooking and large - scale food preparation experience required.
  • ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independenty.
  • Experience with inventory systems, reporting, and menu planning preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between districts/sites required.
