Located about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne on the shores of Blackman Lake, Camp Potawotami has over 210 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands, and hiking trails.

Responsibilities

Camp is looking for responsible, attentive, and enthusiastic Lifeguards for the 2026 Summer Season. Lifeguards play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and positive waterfront experience for campers while building confidence and encouraging participation in aquatic activities.

  • Serve: Maintain constant and diligent surveillance of the waterfront at all times and respond to emergency situations.
  • Care: Ensure safe, clean, and secure conditions for the waterfront as well as the surrounding areas.
  • Connect: Have a warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect with campers.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age with at least two years of High School or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification preferred or ability to get certified.
  • Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Commitment Details

  • Commitment: June 1, 2026-August 8, 2026
  • Starting Pay: Seasonal Part Time, $12.50-$13.00 hourly
