Job description

EduEats is seeking an experienced and motivated Food Service Manager to oversee daily food service operations across multiple school sites. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs (NSLP, SBP, CACFP) and will ensure all programs meet ISBE, CPS, and local health department regulations. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance, food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction throughout all EduEats-managed schools.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support day-to-day food service operations across multiple school sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all USDA, ISBE, and CPS regulations, including meal pattern requirements and production record accuracy.
  • Order and manage inventory for USDA Foods (brown box), DoD Fresh, and Processor Link commodities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, production sheets, and temperature logs.
  • Conduct routine site visits to monitor food safety, sanitation, and service quality.
  • Train, supervise, and support site leads and cafeteria staff in food safety and compliance procedures.
  • Collaborate with the EduEats leadership team to meet menu, budget, and service goals.
  • Assist with audits, reviews, and on-site inspections.
  • Ensure all HACCP and ServSafe protocols are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with school administrators, vendors, and EduEats management regarding menu changes, shortages, or operational needs.
Qualifications

  • ServSafe Manager Certification (required).
  • City of Chicago Food Service Manager License (required).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in school food service management, FSMC operations, or institutional dining.
  • Working knowledge of Processor Link, DoD Fresh, and USDA Brown Box ordering systems.
  • Strong understanding of USDA meal components, production recordkeeping, and compliance documentation.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation for site-to-site travel.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Forms, Docs).
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to travel between sites daily as needed.
