The Dean of Academic Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the college's academic support functions, ensuring high-quality instruction and robust student success initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean leads initiatives related to curriculum development, course scheduling, institutional effectiveness, accreditation compliance, and grant coordination. This position is responsible for leveraging technology to optimize academic operations and foster an environment of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Academic Operations & Scheduling: Collaborating with academic deans, support the development and implementation of the master academic schedule, ensuring efficiency and alignment with student demand and faculty availability. Manage academic operations, including catalog management and academic policies.
  • Curriculum & Student Success: Lead curriculum development processes, ensuring alignment with state standards and workforce needs. Drive student success initiatives by collaborating with faculty and support services to improve retention and completion rates.
  • Accreditation & Institutional Research: Collaborate with the VPAA on maintaining institutional accreditation. Collaboration with deans, chairs, and coordinators, on maintaining programmatic accreditation compliance. Partner with the Institutional Research department to analyze data for purposes related to compliance, institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, accreditation, and student success.
  • Technology Leadership: Utilize and maintain academic databases (e.g., student information systems, LMS) and related technologies to optimize academic services, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Grant Coordination: Lead the identification, proposal development, and oversight of academic grants that align with the college's strategic goals and support innovative instructional methodologies.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Supervise assigned staff, manage departmental budgets, and work collaboratively with academic deans, student services, and faculty to support a cohesive academic environment.

Other Duties and Responsibilities Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an academic discipline, education administration, or related field. A Doctorate is preferred.
  •  A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, high-level administrative experience at the level of Associate Dean, Dean, or higher in higher education settings (community college experience preferred).
  •  Demonstrated expertise in academic operations (scheduling, curriculum), institutional effectiveness, accreditation processes, and grant management.
  •  Strong proficiency in using academic databases, student information systems (e.g., Banner, Colleague), and data analysis tools.
