Technical Writer

Description

Researches, prepares and edits complex technical documents. Ensures documents meet editorial and customer specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, format, and style. Interfaces with writers, illustrators, word processors, and subject matter specialized in coordinating and preparing the edited draft. Participates in the publishing of formatted documentation in various media. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technical subject matter as assigned. Participates as member of project team. Tracks project documentation through creation, approval, publication, and update lifecycle.

The writer will create and maintain documentation for bank fraud models. The writer will be part of a large multidisciplinary team that supports the full model development lifecycle. The work product will be model risk management related documentation. The writer's work day will consist of some large group and small group work as needed, plus some time working alone reviewing and enhancing documentation. The writer will work with teammates to operate within documented change management procedures.

The writer is expected to initially enhance documentation through consultation with subject matter experts. Over time, the writer may begin to conduct some statistical testing or use or existing scripts. There is opportunity for the writer to perform independent analysis when sufficient subject matter expertise is obtained.

Initially the writer will be expected to review existing Python and SAS scripts for understanding. Over time, the writer may directly use or develop scripts as familiarity with systems grow.

Usage of statistical models for business decisions introduces model risk. The team is responsible for controlling this risk including all associated model risk documentation.

Prior writers in this role that were very successful had statistical or programing backgrounds, and were interested in themselves growing into data science roles.
