Job Description

SUMMARY:

  • The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead a group of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians responsible for the introduction, sustainment, and continuous improvement of all manufacturing processes located within the Company facility.

  • Company’s Manufacturing Engineering Teams are leaders in process technologies that support manufacturing of Company products.

  • They possess expertise in stamping, molding, machining, or assembly related process technologies, ensuring that Company manufacturing processes are running at optimum levels for quality and productivity.

  • They are responsible for the standardization and optimization of manufacturing processes within Company.

  • Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the Company manufacturing facility to achieve Company Leading Edge continuous improvement goals, roll out best demonstrated manufacturing practices, and are responsible for overall manufacturing process improvement.

  • They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.

  • The Teams also support New Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements, and manufacturing location.

  • They interface with Design Engineering and Production to ensure manufacturability of new product designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support initial production of new Company products by effective management of the First Time Build process.

  • They ensure that Company’s manufacturing processes comply with all safety and environmental requirements as appropriate.

  • They understand and implement LEAN manufacturing concepts to identify and eliminate waste in the manufacturing process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To effectively manage and prioritize the workload of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This will include shop floor support, capital investment proposals, new product introduction, estimating, methods improvements and cost saving projects.

  • Be a champion for Continuous Improvement efforts within the manufacturing facility through support of Company Leading Edge goals and objectives

  • To partner with Design Engineering and Project Managers to ensure the timely and cost-effective introduction of new products using DFM, Simultaneous Engineering, MES, and FMEA tools as appropriate.

  • To ensure high levels of responsiveness and implementation of permanent and sustainable solutions to shop floor problems in supporting successful completion of Factory Orders on Time (FOOT)

  • Ideate and execute Cost Reduction activities that support overall plant savings goals with regular reporting.

  • Manage routings standards accuracy in support of correct product costs, accurate efficiency reporting and capacity management.

  • Determine and execute on the training and development needs of the team.

  • Ensure that appropriate business and personal development objectives are shared and regularly monitored with the team

  • Maintain target levels of 5S workplace organization

  • Be a leader in Company Leading Edge Continuous Improvement activities.

  • Keep well-informed of technical developments in manufacturing process technologies.

  • Observe and comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations as applicable

  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering

  • Five to seven years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees and the general public.

  • Requires ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Requires ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
