Job Description
Job Title: Engineer / steel Detailer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Engineer / Detailer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating engineered designs and specifications into accurate and precise shop drawings for use in our fabrication facility. Additional responsibilities include taking those shop drawings after approval and converting them into material lists for procurement and programing for our CNC automated equipment. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers and shop personnel to ensure all project requirements are met. The ideal candidate has a strong background in engineering, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in using industry-standard software.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineers, and project managers to understand design requirements and specifications.
Create engineering drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and details, using CAD software, Autocad, SolidWorks, or Tekla.
Ability to create material lists, implement Quality Control requirements and prepare CNC programming for the shop.
Ensure accuracy and adherence to design standards, codes, and regulations in all engineering drawings.
Provide support in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and material specifications.
Conduct reviews of engineering drawings to identify and resolve design issues or conflicts that arise during fabrication.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve any discrepancies.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in design software, and changes in building codes and regulations.
Collaborate with construction teams during the construction phase to address any design-related issues or changes.
Ability to work through and troubleshoot any shop related issues that may arise as a result of prepared shop drawings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with 2 4 years of experience. (Flexible)
Experience in a manufacturing facility or steel fabrication facility a plus.
Experience as an Engineer Designer/Detailer or a similar role a plus.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks or Tekla.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and building codes.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise drawings for use in fabrication facility.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Familiarity with construction processes and industry practices.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, to meet strict project deadlines.
