Job description

Join a team redefining how steel gets delivered.

At Evolve, you’ll lead detailing on complex, high-impact projects—including a $200M corporate campus and large-scale urban redevelopment projects—while helping shape the future of integrated steel delivery.

This is a remote role open to candidates across the U.S.
We have a preference for individuals based in the Midwest to West Coast to align with team collaboration hours.

Why This Role Matters

You won’t just review drawings—you’ll:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing detailing team
  • Drive constructability and real-world build success
  • Influence projects early through IPD and preconstruction

If you’re someone who cares about doing things better—not just faster—this role is built for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of structural steel detailers
  • Oversee quality and accuracy of shop drawings and models
  • Ensure constructability and coordination across trades
  • Partner with project managers, fabricators, and field teams
  • Solve real-world field and fabrication challenges
  • Manage RFIs, change tracking, and detailing workflows
  • Drive continuous improvement in detailing processes and standards

What You Bring

  • 12+ years in structural steel detailing
  • 5+ years in checking / leadership / oversight
  • Strong expertise in Tekla Structures
  • Deep understanding of fabrication and erection workflows
  • Ability to read and coordinate architectural + structural drawings
  • Knowledge of AISC, AWS, and relevant codes
  • Experience with AutoCAD / SDS (preferred)

What Makes Evolve Different

We’re not a traditional detailing firm.

We operate in an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) environment—meaning:

  • You’re involved earlier
  • You have more influence
  • You solve problems before they hit the field

We combine:

  • Steel detailing + fabrication + erection insight
  • Lean + agile workflows
  • Technology-driven project

The result: faster timelines, better coordination, and fewer surprises.

Benefits & Perks

  • Remote work + flexible schedule (Located between Mid-west and West Coast Required)
  • 100% company-paid medical and dental
  • Optional vision
  • 401k with 4% match
  • Generous PTO + 7 holidays
  • Performance bonuses + annual salary reviews

Our Culture

We value:

  • Bold thinking
  • Real conversations
  • Doing the right thing
  • Confidence without ego
  • A drive to improve

We build systems that support these values, even in a remote environment.

About Evolve
