Afternoon Shift
STEEL FABRICATING SUPERVISOR - Afternoon Shift
AISC & ISO 9001 certified heavy steel plate fabricator is looking for a second shift Heavy Fabrication Supervisor. We cut and produce precision parts for the structural, power generation and mining industries. We depend on your skill to produce quality parts that achieve fit, form, and function for specialized industries and to get them done on time. Role and Responsibilities
  • Develops departmental strategies for Heavy Fabricating Bay and leads their team members
  • Trains new workers on their job duties and the company's Quality Management System
  • Monitors production processes
  • Keeps the heavy fab bay's performance in line with company expectations
  • Monitor's maintenance and repairs of the department's equipment
  • Monitors and evaluates team members performance
  • Daily Balances hours for all departmental employees
  • Organizes, verifies correct material is being used
  • Stages incoming material, customer supplied material, weld wire and other departmental supplies and verifies they are all stored properly
  • Schedules jobs on fitting tables, welding positioners, stress relief furnaces and rolls and assigns employees to tasks to stay on schedule provided by Director of Operations
  • Sends Purchasing Requisitions to Purchasing Manager for departmental supplies and equipment needs
  • Records gas levels for department to monitor and track company gas usage
  • Ensures all parts are inspected in process or before final shipment
  • Works closely with Quality Control Manager and Director of Operations to make sure all 3rd party inspections and in-process and final in-house inspections take place on time to maintain schedule.
  • Suggests improvements to processes and helps estimating hours for processes
