MRI Scheduling Specialist

The primary function of the MRI Scheduling Specialist is to complete the pre-authorization and scheduling process for patients with imaging orders. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MRI reception and waiting areas, providing greetings, and assisting patients and other visitors. Additional responsibilities include obtaining information, answering questions, and providing appropriate assistance or directions. The MRI Scheduling Specialist is expected to provide the highest level of service to patients, fellow employees, and outside sources through ensuring that insurance benefits and pre-certification is complete, accurate, timely, and fully documented.
Essential Functions:
• Receives all MRI/Dexa scan orders and schedules patients according to specific protocols
• Reviews the schedules at all LBJI MRI facilities daily
• Pre-certify procedures to include but not limited to MRI services, and document all work in practice management system
• Assure that patients have all the information they need to arrive on time and all information needed to bill properly
• Inform patients when they did not receive authorization from their insurance company
• Meet deadlines as determined by date of procedure
• Communicate with physicians, clinical staff and any outside facilities of any prior authorization issues that arise
• Verifies with patients all demographics in computer system are correct
• Maintains Signature Knee MRIs and enters patient information into the Biomet site
• Verifies current insurance information and precertification approvals
• Communicates with medical staff throughout the day to ensure patient flow is running smoothly
• Sends all Medicare paperwork to Radsource at the end of the day
• Attends meetings as required

General Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent
Preferred Experience:
1-2 Years experience in pre-authorization and verification or MRI scheduling preferred
Role Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have reliable transportation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Digital literacy
