Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

FLSA: Exempt

Classification: Regular Full-Time (35 hours)

SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The Nursing Director has overall responsibility for BSHC's nursing team and operations. This position is responsible for ensuring community and program screenings and assessments are completed timely and accurately. This role also works closely with internal external stakeholders in developing strategies for improved efficiency, evaluating the performance of program operations to pinpoint areas for improvement and overall services enhancement. This position requires cross-functional collaboration with other program leadership to promote communication, innovation, employee engagement, knowledge sharing, organizational and team spirit. The nursing director must be a leader who is able to help his/her staff reach their program goals, objectives and compliance requirements.

Working under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the incumbent is responsible for collaborating with Senior Management to achieve agency goals. Responsibilities also include collaborating with directors and managers to develop and implement policies and strategies to improve current service operations as well as integrating quality assurance measures and outcomes. Develop and maintain systems for tracking strategic planning implementation. Provide thoughtful leadership and guidance to the organization encompassing current health and wellness best practices. This position works directly with the COO and senior leadership on new program development, clinical integrity and financial management of agency operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Job functions: Duties ___1___ through ___15__are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions.

  1. Evaluate, develop and implement policies and procedures for existing and new services and programs.
  1. Work with the human resources department to develop and implement staff evaluation parameters
  2. Collaborate with the COO on developing the Nursing and AFC program budget.
  3. Supervise and evaluate nurse manager as well as direct reports as needed in their operational and practice skills and provide feedback.
  1. Serve as the operations liaison for partnership with skilled nursing facility and hospital case managers and leadership team.
  2. Oversee the nurses and Manager on Clinical Assessment and Eligibility, nursing facility screenings and Adult Foster Care (AFC) program screening and assessments.
  3. Develop, implement and maintain appropriate nursing policies, procedures and standards of care.
  4. Participates in quality improvement activities of the clinical department as well as agency wide.
  5. Oversee alongside assigned Directors or Managers, data gathering system for Clinical Assessment and Eligibility, Adult Foster Care, Personal Care and Home Care data statistics and prepare reports as required.
  6. Interpret data and report to appropriate state agencies and board committees.
  7. Coordinate and oversee alongside with program leadership, the process of Interdisciplinary Case and / or Clinical Review of all state Home Care and Adult Foster Care consumers.
  8. Provide consultation to BSHC staff regarding Consumer/Member health and well-being.
  9. Oversee operations of Clinical Assessment and Eligibility Screenings, Personal Care assessments and AFC documentation standards are completed appropriately and timely.
  10. Provide consultation and appropriate training regarding nursing facility screenings and Personal Care to provider agency, hospital, and long-term care facility staff.
  11. Serve as BSHC liaison and representative with appropriate departments at the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, MassHealth and community agencies through prompt and regular attendance.
  12. Maintain a thorough understanding and ensure compliance of established departmental procedures and agency policies.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong supervisory, coaching and leadership skills with an ability to develop personnel as well as manage programs and institutionalize regulatory compliance throughout each program.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to an evolving job role and change management.
  • Ability to develop innovative programs that respond to the current needs of the health care environment pertaining to older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Financial management, program budgeting and quantitative skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position manages nurse manager, RN program staff, and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within those departments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, filing cabinets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The employee is frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time hybrid position, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 10% travel. Must be able to travel throughout the community under all weather conditions and perform home visits.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Registered Nurse with current Massachusetts license, and a BA or BS in a related field.
  • Must have at least three years of full-time or equivalent experience as a registered nurse in a community setting and at least five years managerial experience.
  • MSN preferred.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

None required for this position.

  • Must clear CORI background check
  • Must be able to work in the United States
