Job Overview
The Purchasing Manager is tasked with overseeing all procurement activities and engaging in negotiations for both long-term and short-term agreements with suppliers. This individual will act as the primary liaison for all communications related to purchasing, both externally and internally. The position requires a proactive and collaborative professional who can efficiently manage transactions to ensure accuracy.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Participate in weekly production meetings to provide updates on project status.
· Keep ES Projects spreadsheet up-to-date and facilitate weekly long lead item meeting.
· Ensure vendor lead times are confirmed and communicated to the project team.
· Notify the Director of Operations of any potential delays.
· Supervises and mentor purchasing team members for next level opportunities.
· Reach out to vendors to verify purchase order details.
· Uphold all purchasing policies and procedures diligently.
· Developing, leading, and executing purchasing strategies.
· Oversee all procurement activities to support Engineered Solutions and Catalog Products.
· Record all orders received and their confirmations.
· Maintain compliance with departmental budget for all purchases.
· Research and evaluate potential vendors for contracting opportunities.
· Work to negotiate favorable rates with vendors in order to effectively manage costs and stay within budget.
· Promptly address and report any errors in purchasing activities.
· Monitor and track all purchases, from the initial order placement to final delivery.
· Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet production demands.
· Conduct a thorough review of all purchasing contracts prior to presenting them to management.
· Address any inquiries from potential vendors in a timely manner.
· Perform any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
· 3-5 years’ experience working in a procurement role.
· Knowledge of ERP (SAGE) and/or SAP
· Proven track record for strong negotiation skills preferred.
· Strong communication skills and solid judgment along with decision making skills required.
· Some local travel required.
· Must be a team player willing to help in other areas of the department.
· Bachelor’s degree in business, management or mathematics preferred but will considerable the right candidate if they have 7-10 years of relevant experience.
