Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a leading manufacturer of industrial equipment/machinery in St. Charles, IL, looking for a new VP of Engineering. Their current VP of Engineering has been promoted, so they are in urgent need of their next person! Job Description
A big focus off the bat for this VP will implementing a new PDM (product data management) system to help track engineering changes. Other projects down the line that will be spearheaded by this individual will be kicking off DriveCAD, which is an automated CAD add on to configure existing and new models based on parameters like size and shape. Finally, our client is working on expanding into the VRC (vertical reciprocating conveyor) industry which would be a large-scale, long-term project. Starting with leadership, funneling down to hourly folks, our client embraces a collaborative, team environment so it’s important to the team that this person can embrace a huge part of their culture!
Hiring Manager Notes:
Must haves:
- P.E Licenses (professional engineering)
- Bachelor’s degree in either mechanical or industrial engineering
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- Product Development experience – Ideally this person would come from a machine/equipment building environment
- Other’s that would work are conveyor or material handling systems, industrial automation, folks that come from a forklift company or machine tools (i.e. a person works for a mill/lathe company). Tractors, agricultural equipment, mining, oil and gas, crane builders, and other heavy equipment manufactures etc.
- Experience leading/managing a team between 5-10+
Preferred:
- Experience in a low volume, high mix environment so engineered-to-ordered is best versus a company that has a standard product line.
- Previously implemented or currently uses a PDM system – this is a software to track engineering changes in a more robust way.
- Comfortable with being in a transition period for the first 12 months or so. Eventually, this person will be overseeing the whole engineering team, focused on larger scale projects/issues. They have an Engineering Manager that does training and oversees the engineers directly.
- Someone who regularly interacts with customers, outside vendors and maintains strong relationships with other departments.
