Job Summary

The Controls Manager is responsible for leading engineers within the Memphis facility's Reliability group and ensuring effective operation of all electrical systems. This individual is integral to the efficient execution of multiple packaging lines and product runs within the facility while promoting safety across all areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspire and mentor a team of engineers as they work cross-functionally across the facility
• Develop plans to keep the team engaged
• Work with engineering across the site to develop the short and long term capital needs
• Lead teams that will design and program all aspects of PLC/HMI software for brewing & liquid process equipment
• Ability to test and debug control system
• Create, update, and modify machine, part or facilities schematics using a CAD program
• Both AC and DC Drive experience with various drive platforms
• Write and modify extensive PLC’s, DCS’s and HMI’s programs for the following: Allen Bradley, Modicon, DeltaV
• Troubleshoot or establish control networks: EtherNet/IP, Fieldbus, Profibus, AS-i networks, DH-485, Modbus, Modbus Plus
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Electrical schematic design and drafting using AutoCAD electrical
• Troubleshoot process control systems in particular liquid process control
• Perform all duties within GMP standards
• Accurately document activities as appropriate through CMMS
• Train and evaluate trainees & front line techs
• Responsible for department compliance with GMP, HACCP and FSMA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years’ experience PLC controls engineering in lieu of degree
• Experience mentoring and coaching a large team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency using RS Logix 500, 5000, CompactLogix, & ControlLogix, ProWorks NXT, and Wonderware
• DeltaV programing experience, a plus
• Experience using root cause analysis to problem solve
• Knowledge of system process controls for grain elevation and liquids
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, control power and drives, sanitary control principals, operation and trouble shooting
• Ability to work flexible shifts to support a 24/7 facility operation (includes nights and weekends)
