Accounting Manager

Reports to: Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time

Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 annually

Location/Travel: San Antonio - Corporate

Empower Behavioral Health was created with the mission of empowering families by providing the most effective Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, to ensure that learners with autism and other developmental disabilities reach their maximum potential.

And our sister company, Circle of Care, is a leader in pediatric speech, physical, and occupational therapy for children from birth through twenty years old throughout Texas.

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions for Empower Behavioral Health and Circle of Care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Mentor, train, support, and develop accounting staff: Senior Accountant, Payroll/HRIS Specialist and AP Specialist. Foster an environment of strong cross-collaboration and inclusivity.
• Plans, organizes and executes the accounting month-end close process and Financial Statement Preparation in accordance with GAAP Standards
• Assist Controller with Financial Planning and Analysis: Cash Flow Projections, Budgeting/Forecasting and Variance Analysis, and other Financial Modeling to support decision-making for the Executive Team and Board of Directors for EBH and CofC
• Coordinate with external CPA firm tax staff and auditors during year-end tax preparation and audit. Prepare tax and audit schedules and support documentation. Address tax and audit inquiries and ensure timely completion of tax and audit deliverables.
• Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor compliance and recommend enhancements as needed.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting processes to drive efficiencies
• Assist with assessing and implementing new accounting systems
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Highly proficient in accounting software
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles; particularly ASC 606 and ASC 842
• Experience successfully revamping accounting processes & technology
• Proficient with payroll platforms
• Strong project management skills and the ability to meet goals and deadlines
• Ability to think creatively and implement innovative solutions
• Adaptability to evolving priorities and deadlines

Preferred:

• Master’s or MBA in Accounting
• CPA or CMA
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics365 Business Central
• Experience with Tableau
• Experience in a healthcare or startup setting
