Job Description

POSTIION SUMMARY:

The Director, Operations (Solar) will bring leadership, direction and oversight to the engineering, planning, start-up and construction phases of a self-performing construction project. They will demonstrate competencies around safe working conditions, a quality project, developing leaders, construction methods, fundamental project management, planning, budgeting, contract negotiations, procurement, engineering, managing sub-contractors/suppliers and change management. This individual must demonstrate the capability of building relationships and serving customers through excellent collaboration and communication.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Safety: The Director will establish a culture and attitude of safety within the company and projects that will not pursue business goals sacrificing the health and welfare of our people. Find and encourage the positive behaviors on each project. Endorse and support “No life altering events”.
• Leadership: The Director will develop professional and respectful leaders and managers WHO will deploy our project management system that establishes a leadership position in the market and facilitates “Excellence” in everything we do.
• High Performance Teams: The Director will hire and facilitate the development of individuals who possess the required leadership and competency to produce a high-performing outcome for the company. All teams will be established and staffed in a manner that will produce an “A-team” result. Our teams will encourage and produce a positive and engaging work environment where all members can achieve their professional goals. The company will endorse and ensure all team members understand how each contribute to the success of each other, the project and company.
• Quality Product: The Director will establish and lead a culture and program that produce a high quality and performing power plant. We will honor our quality standards, engineering standards and quality methods that produce the produce we promised.
• Customer Service: The Director will establish a cohesive, connected and collaborative relationship with the clientele. They will serve the client in a manner promotes a trusting relationship where we anticipate their needs and follow through with our commitments on time and budget. We will look for and promote transparency around improving the client’s bottom line.
• On time Execution: The Director will establish our project management program to ensure our schedules are used as a tool to proactively manage the on-time execution of the projects.
• Operational Excellence: The Director will execute our business strategy in a more consistent, predictable and reliable manner than the competition. Operational excellence creates value-add. Director will establish a program that will produce lower operational risk, lower operating costs, and increased revenues relative to our competitors, thus creating value for our customers and shareholders. The individual will produce a system that achieves results in accordance to our business strategy and plan.
• The Director will lead in a manner that promotes continuous improvement, Lean Thinking, Six Sigma and learning from our lessons; thus, incorporating all that back into our procurement system and customer service program.
• Fiscal Responsibility: The Director will establish and lead our project management program to produce a predictable fiscal outcome for the company. This will be accomplished by employing fundamental budgeting, planning, monitoring and forecasting processes that ensure the leadership and company understand the financial status of each project. Our project management program will ensure the health of our company by establish positive cash flow and collecting our receivables on time.
• Talent Development: The Director will intentionally lead and develop others to lead the development of our greatest asset: our people. They will ensure this development through a regular and consistent coaching and feedback system that will provide regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• 12+ years of Construction experience and a proven construction background.
• 8+ years of solar construction project experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (equivalent is 8 years of construction experience) in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management or related field from an accredited university.
• Demonstrated experience in Construction Management and leadership of people.

PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
• Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
• Must have a valid current passport for travel (including air travel) outside the U.S.
• Extensive travel required.
