OVERVIEW 

Parkhurst Academy is a private Christian school providing education from K-12.  All employees are required to faithfully attend and serve at a local church.  We’re seeking a facilities supervisor to serve in this key role. The ideal candidate has experience serving in the field of maintenance and janitorial services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Maintain the school buildings and grounds in top condition.
  • Manage the janitorial staff including scheduling and job assignments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with:
    • electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
    • exterior and interior of buildings.
    • school grounds.
  • Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects;
  • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary
  • Trim trees and other foliage on school grounds regularly.
  • Minor sprinkler repair as needed
  • Pressure wash exterior of the building and parking lot from time to time
  • Move equipment and materials within the school building.
  • Assist with weekly breakdown of school items in preparation for weekend church experiences.
  • Act as a substitute janitor when necessary.
  • Comply with and supports school regulations and policies;
  • Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment, as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
  • Support the value of an education.
  • Work overtime when emergencies arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in building and grounds operations. At least three (3) years of human resources experience is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory
  • Ability to read chemical labels. 6. Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS)
  • Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Background check and drug screen. 
  • Non-Disclosure agreement.

  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, supervisor, administrators, and school-community members.
  • Must be skilled in the performance of one or more trades.
  • Frequent walking, standing, lifting, up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 

The work may require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 75 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:  

 

  • Feeling: Ability to perceive attributes of objects by touch.  
  • Dexterity: Primarily with fingers, as in picking, pinching, or typing.  
  • Grasping: Applying pressure with the whole hand.  
  • Hearing: Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction. 
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and move objects  
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions.  
  • Reaching: Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.  
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech. 
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.  
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading, operating motor vehicles; including color, depth perception, and field vision.   
  • Walking: Ability to move on foot for long distances or moving from one work site to another  
  • Physical Environment: Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. Must be able to work in high places.
