TITLE: Guest Services Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation & Community Services
REPORTS TO: Guest Services & Operations Supervisor
This is a part time temporary position, and may be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedule of work hours may vary based on assigned duties.
NATURE OF WORK:
Under the direction and supervision of the Guest Services & Operations Supervisor this position is responsible for working at the front desk of the Recreation Center, helping individuals register for memberships and programs, checking in guests, and providing information about the facility’s offerings. The position interacts with citizens, community organizations, and other city staff. It also requires the ability to provide and maintain a safe, inclusive environment for all participants. This position will assist with the various programs and events offered by the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Maintain daily standard operating procedures for the opening and closing of the facility, including a walkthrough of the facility for a general inspection to assure rooms are clean, set up properly, and meet facility standards
- Provide information to members and guests about the offerings of the Recreation Center
- Process memberships, guest check-ins, and program registrations.
- Collect fees, reconciling computer accounts, and balancing daily cash till
- Perform routine checks around the facility and provide immediate notification to supervisory staff of mechanical problems, personnel issues, customer concerns, and safety hazards
- Collect usage counts at intervals throughout the day
- Preparation of Party Rooms/Banquet Rooms/Meeting Rooms
- Assisting in cleaning program areas and lobby
- Attending regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Interact with the public in an effective, customer-friendly manner, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and other organizations
- Windows and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Knowledge of cash register operations and cash handling
- Outgoing and willing to take on additional assignments as needed
- Communicate orally and in writing
- Work independently and make appropriate decisions regarding work methods and priorities
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate a strong sense of personal ethics along with a high degree of professional judgment and discretion
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in high school or possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be at least 16 years of age. Parent/guardian content work required if under 18.
- Six month customer service experience preferred
- Computer experience and cash handling is desired
- Successfully complete a criminal history check
- Must be able to obtain prior to hiring:
- CPR/First Aid Card

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet when in the office or moderately loud when in the field.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, or run. The employee uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach up with hands and arms. The employee is required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements are close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
