Job Description

The Assistant Chief Engineer assists the Chief Engineer in ensuring proper maintenance of the assigned hotel location, including making regular inspections and identifying needs for repair/upgrade, keeping accurate records of expenditures, ensuring adequate staffing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the maintenance staff. The Assistant Chief Engineer will also be responsible for performing repairs or services, and will interact with internal and external customers to address problems as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on a regular schedule by identifying needs and assigning workload to staff.
  • Works with Chief Engineer to ensure adequate staffing of department.
  • Repairs or performs services including areas of plumbing, painting, plastering, machine/electrical.
  • May interact with external vendors or suppliers.
  • Works cross-departmentally to ensure the best quality experience for guests.
  • May interact with guests to address problems as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility: Maintenance Technicians

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Experience in general repair and maintenance of HVAC and other mechanical equipment; knowledge of general maintenance skills: eg: carpentry, painting; pool certification desired.
  • Proven track record of dependability and reliability.

Work Environment: This role requires work both indoors and outdoors, may require work in confined spaces and in potentially hazardous conditions such as working on electrical equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift or transfer office products and supplies, up to 100 pounds; using safe lifting and transfer practices. Frequent bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, walking and standing.
