Unit Secretary / Monitor Tech (USMT) - Full Time and PRN

The position, under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, is responsible for continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms, maintaining monitoring documentation and equipment. In addition, the unit secretary assists with the functions such as assisting with communications, answering call lights and transcription of physician orders. He/she serves as the primary receptionist and secretarial resource for the nursing unit, assists in ordering supplies, tracking charges and other assigned duties.
The technician directs communication with the nursing unit, prepares and ensures completion of the patients' medical records. Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers. Uses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
The candidate must manage stress appropriately and have the ability to make decisions under pressure. This position is performed in a safe, functional and effective manner that reduces hazards and risks, prevents accidents and injuries and maintains safe conditions by adhering to established safety standards, demonstrates ability to set priorities.
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Hospital Experience
1 year telemetry observation preferred
Successful completion of Landmark Hospital of Savannah Clinical Education and Dysrhythmia course and EKG exam prior to completion of orientation.
