Job Description: School Culture Assistant (Paraprofessional)

Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities are to provide continuous safety support to the overall educational environment by monitoring attendance and hallways. The School Culture Assistant tracks and analyzes data in order to identify attendance and supervision trends. In addition, the School Culture Assistant collaborates with the building behavior and admin team to implement systems and student supports. Also, the School Culture Assistant works with the District Safety Manager/Dean of Students to monitor student behavior and navigate safety situations. The School Culture Assistant collaborates with staff to accommodate special needs, diversity and educational backgrounds of the students; and overcome challenges constructively. The School Culture Assistant is a hardworking, collaborative and enthusiastic professional.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Help create and sustain a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Monitors attendance at the beginning of each class period
  • Communicates with appropriate team members and families regarding absence anomalies
  • Monitors hallways, bathrooms, and stairwells throughout the school day to ensure student safety and maximize learning time
  • Communicates safety concerns with building admin and District Safety Manager proactively to maintain a safe environment
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate hallway data with social emotional and admin team
  • Monitor arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Two years of relevant professional work experience with children preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with education and child welfare policies and best practices and a motivation to continue expanding that knowledge base.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities simultaneously.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and an ability to keep multiple stakeholder groups, including parents, teachers, staff, volunteers and partners, informed of critical issues, activities and schedules.
  • An ability and enthusiasm for promoting the school and its mission to a broad and diverse group of people.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and an ability to collaborate closely with colleagues and partners to identify challenges and to design and implement solutions.
  • Strong computer skills; must be proficient in the use of email, the internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Donor Perfect and Google Apps and be able to apply these skills towards the necessary organization, documentation and communication requirements of this position.
  • Excellent work ethic, positive attitude and exceptional people skills
  • Must pass extensive background check

Teachers, Students, Parents, Volunteers, Office Staff, Support Staff, Assistant Principals, Principals, District Leadership Team, Central Office Team
