Scope of Position


The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all the accounting and reporting activities. The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility over general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management and fixed assets administration. The Controller will ensure that Company has the systems, controls, and procedures in place to support the operations, internal controls, and audits. The Controller will work closely with leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding accounting procedures but also to explore how the accounting function can support the manufacturing operations. This role will be involved in supporting presentations to the board, audit committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team. In addition, this person will partner with the CFO, senior leadership, and the human resources (HR), procurement and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate accounting, HR, Purchasing and IT functions.


Responsibilities


  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions while encouraging process improvements and implementing new processes and systems.
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial reporting data in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the Companys financial status.
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors and tax professionals
  • Manage the budget process and monitor achieving budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating/recommending corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and maintain accounting and internal control systems.
  • Supervise all accounting personnel through coaching, appraising, and counseling employees.
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, processes and procedures and identify ways for expense control.
  • Ensure compliance with the law and companys policies.
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial information and trends.
  • Support Cash management with forecasts and maximizing returns while minimizing risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • CPA is a strong advantage with previous experience in public accounting firm.
  • Minimum 5-7 years in accounting experience for a major company or division of a large corporation (pharmaceutical field will be an advantage)
  • Proven experience as Controller of a for-profit company or manager in a public accounting firm
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent abilities for data analysis, budgeting and forecasting methods.
  • Knowledge and experience working with ERP software programs with preferences towards those with Sage or Microsoft Dynamics background.
  • Hands-on, leads by example, able to balance multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish good working relationships with other departments, including vendors, colleagues, and subordinates.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate technical knowledge necessary to make sound decisions on development issues with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze data and information and assess and resolve complex problems/issues as required.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow all applicable SOPs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with electronic Quality Management Systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to acquire appropriate knowledge from resources on the current federal, local, and international regulations regarding the production, testing, and release of drug substances and products.
  • Good understanding of cGMPs, industry, and regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to portray the appropriate level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, regulators, and client representatives in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete tasks accurately and according to established and shifting timelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make quality scheduling, resource allocation, and priorities decisions.
