Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Highmark Credit Union in living out our Mission, “To educate and inspire our Highmark family so that all can achieve success.” This is done by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members. A key component of this service is to identify the needs of each member you assist and suggest the credit union products and services that will improve their financial life.
In addition, the Commercial Loan Officer 1 is responsible for activities that complement the commercial department with regards to current and potential members. The position is responsible for analyzing the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for commercial credit, and making recommendations to the Commercial Loan Officer ll/AVP Commercial Lending/Loan Review Committee for approval. This position is primarily responsible for analyzing less complex loan renewals and new loans as well as analyzing other requests for existing members.
Essential Functions:
- Manages loan applications and prospective members assigned that involve less complex loan screening and analysis.
- Conducts thorough, comprehensive business and organizational analysis to form an understanding of that business’s health, capacity and capability to appropriately utilize and fully repay its loan in a timely manner.
- Analyzes economic and market data.
- Works collaboratively and cooperatively with other staff to complete loan transactions, promote internal teamwork, facilitate learning and enable the loan department’s effectiveness.
- Ability to manage expectations and changing priorities.
- Assists the Loan Officers in maintenance and development of key channel relationships. Identifies prospective and current accounts to establish or enhance the Credit Union’s brand.
- Gain a full understanding of the account’s needs, evaluates appropriate lending relationships and educates accounts on the benefits of working with the Credit Union.
- Assist Loan Officers in the establishment of annual review and follow-up mechanisms to best service accounts.
- Maintains a current understanding of Credit Union procedures and policies.
- Other duties as assigned by CLO.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or similar field and a minimum of 2 years of professional business experience in financial services or lending/loan
- Commercial lending and/or commercial analysis preferred
- Knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Credit Union services and products including the legal and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must pass required background check
