Position Location: Littleton, MA

Labor Classification: Exempt, Salary

Normal Office Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, On-site/in-office

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the HR Generalist provides guidance and solutions on human resources operational issues. This individual partners with management to facilitate the delivery of HR services. In addition, the HRG ensures the organization's current HR requirements are met and the HR strategy is implemented effectively. The Generalist serves as a contact for employees and answers questions regarding HR policies and procedures

Responsibilities:

Human Resources, Company Benefits and General HR support

  • Assist in writing & updating company policies and procedures.
  • Update Company Handbook, and train employee on its use.
  • Lead, coordinate and assist to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, including but not limited to: HCRA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, and other labor laws.
  • Provide support and follow-up to benefit inquiries by employees.
  • Process workers comp claims when applicable. Manage unemployment claims when applicable.
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment efforts.
  • Prepare and process weekly payroll for over 55 employees across several US states, review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual filings and reporting (i.e., Form 5500, W-2’s, Osha 300 form, etc.)
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Lead, train, administer and facilitate the company wide employee review program, 90 day and “bi annual review” process.
  • Administration of all company benefit programs (health, life insurance, disability program, flexible spending program, 401(k) program, etc.). Deal with renewals annually.
  • Maintain accurate job descriptions company wide
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks and testing.
  • Welcome new employees and orientation – arranging onboard and training.
  • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations.
  • Coordination and submission of all enrollments, changes, etc. to the benefit vendors.
  • Maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to company policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations
  • Prepare and distribute detailed reports, e.g., labor hours, overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of HR.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • 5 - 10 years in a similar role
  • Understanding of general human resource policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and people skills with an aptitude in problem solving.
  • Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to Director of HR.

Physical and Environment: Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching. Position may require sitting for up to 2 hours at a time. Ability to perform consistent work on a personal computer. Work environment - typical office environment.
