Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager will oversee the day-to-day aspects of Human Resources, partnering with Memphis' HR Director to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives. HR duties may involve partnering with front line leaders in managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, labor relations, performance management, training & development and talent management. The HR Supervisor will report to the HR Director and will have one direct and one dotted line report.


Responsibilities

Employee Relations

Ensure programs, policies, and procedures are aligned with and support the overall site’s business objectives. Manage and evaluate employee relations programs, ensuring consistent and equitable human resources policies and practices. Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution. Coach and guide site leaders on key HR activities such as progressive discipline, LOA, and attendance.

Performance Management

Act as a key business partner and change agent to promote a high performing work environment. Partner with HR Director in leveraging the utilization of the performance appraisal and merit review system. Work closely with managers to set performance goals, monitor progress, provide feedback, and administer performance reviews.

Recruitment and Staffing

Partner with the Sr. Recruiter to determine appropriate staffing levels and ensure staffing measures are in place in support of operational needs. Those measures would include aligning interview panels, interviewing, job offers and co-championing the onboarding process in order to provide clarity and connection of employees’ roles in support business. Measure and analyze turnover and retention rates.

Talent Management

Train front line leaders and managers on how to coach and discipline employees. Support and help drive the Talent Mapping process to help identify and grow talent within the organization. Support succession planning process to ensure the right talent in key roles. This includes partnering with leaders to identify high-potential talent and provide them with growth promoting opportunities.

Labor Relations

Handle day to day labor relation matters and disputes through administration of the collective bargaining agreement and ensuring compliance with labor law and regulations. Help to bridge a harmonious relationship between site leaders and the employee workforce by addressing complaints and grievances.

Compliance and Policy Development

Develop and enforce company policies. Stay abreast of changes in employment laws and regulations and ensure the organization’s policies align with legal requirements. These laws include Federal and state employment law, EEOC, FMLA, state unemployment, FLSA, ADA, HIPAA, OSHA, Affirmative Action/EEO and ERISA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline, required
  • 5-7 years working experience as an HR leader in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with labor unions required
  • Strong leadership and development skills
  • Strong knowledge of labor relations and local law
  • People-oriented and results-driven
  • Knowledge of HR systems and database
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle a number of assignments and responsibilities while managing changing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, administrative and organizational skills
