Reports to: Communications Manager

JOB OVERVIEW

Gana-A'Yoo, Limited (GYL) is seeking a motivated Communications Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will develop and implement innovative strategic communications to key internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative environment. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the ability to multitask and adapt to varying demands. To ensure success, the Communications Specialist is innovative and organized with a passion for effective communication, design talent, copywriting and editing skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategy to support company objectives
  • Write and edit content for various communication channels, including newsletters, social media, and other company publications.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the company's policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up-to-date with relevant developments.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining communication databases, and organizing files for efficient workflow.
  • Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company's strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and best practices in communication to suggest innovative ideas and improvements for the team.
  • Support and evaluate the results of communication campaigns with the team.
  • Participate in collaborative reviews of communication materials supporting major milestones.

ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a communication role, preferably in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud products including InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Additional preferred experience with MS Teams, 365, SharePoint, and web development.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
  • Experience in Alaska Native Corporations and government contracting preferred.
