Arlo Washington DC, soon to be added to the Arlo Hotels portfolio is now seeking a dynamic Senior Group Sales Manager.

Arlo Washington D.C. will comprise 229,846 square feet, which includes the restoration and preservation of the original 42,942-square-foot, five-story building, The Harrison Apartment, D.C.’s oldest known surviving conventional apartment building that has stood since 1882. Arlo Hotels is adding 186,904 square feet of space to the property, where the sixth through 12th floors, the penthouse, four meeting rooms and an indoor and outdoor rooftop lounge and pool will be located. The hotel will also feature a restaurant and bar, a “Bodega” cafe and lounge, and an interior courtyard.

Ideal for leisure and business travelers, Arlo Washington D.C. is conveniently located four blocks from Washington, D.C.’s Union Station and less than a mile from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Situated in the city’s bustling Judiciary Square neighborhood, the 445-room hotel is close to globally recognized landmarks such as The Capitol and the Supreme Court Building, fine dining options and upscale shopping.

This position is responsible to proactively generate new business and provide account management for new and existing accounts. In addition, work with Sales Manager to meet and exceed monthly revenue goals as well as preparing and executing action plans, negotiating rates/contracts and qualifying customers. The Senior Group Sales Manager will be responsible to represent the Arlo Brand and embrace its values and culture within each interaction.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

 

  • Proactively lead and generate new group business opportunities, drive pricing, direct sales, and results for the designated accounts and market segment. 
  • Manage a basis of hotels top national and international key accounts.
  • Prospect on a daily/weekly basis. Maintain, prospect, independently solicit and book business.
  • Develop, Create and Maintain customer relationships to achieve optimum market share.
  • Identify, qualify, solicit, and pursue prospective group & meeting business from free market information, as well as information from purchased lead sources, analyzing historical and other statistical information (market segment, account mix goals), participate in conducting customer interviews and preparing customer call analysis report.
  • Solicit group business directly and jointly with others through the preparation, execution, and completion of Action Plans.
  • Manage the hotel's RFP process/rate negotiations according to rate structure and guidelines laid out.
  • Maintain product knowledge at all times including all relevant rate structures and promotional offers.
  • Plan and execute sales trips in line with the Sales and Marketing plan.
  • Within established parameters, quote and negotiate prices with customer representative confirming reservations by letter and drawing up contracts; sign for the hotel and obtain customer signature to close transaction.
  • Upon closing, coordinate and follow-up with other hotel departments to ensure delivery of superior guest's services.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by procedural guidelines.
  • As directed, compile and input market intelligence information to the Sales Information Management System.
  • As directed, participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel, the industry and customer organizations.
  • Achieve established room nights and revenue as outlined by the agreed upon goals.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the venue teams.
  • Communicate with employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy restaurant activity, serving as a role model for team and other employees.
  • Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional service.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University or college degree from an accredited institution; Bachelor's degree in in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel + Restaurant Management, or related major or professional area
  • At least 5 years or more of experience as a Group Sales Manager is an asset
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
  • Exceptionally strong ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to de-escalate situations when needed and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Dynamic, proven leader demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit, innovative thinking, change leadership and focus on coaching and team motivation.
  • Must be innovative, organized, efficient and able to prioritize multiple projects while working with a team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required, must be able to present self professionally at all times
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter who is a team player and comes with a can-do attitude
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of various discipline focused computer programs, including a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Opera
