Job Description
Full Time (40 hours weekly), on-site
Location: Long Island, NY
Compensation: 135k-160k annually
The Role:
We are seeking an experience Controller for our company located in Long Island, NY. The Controller manages all financial actions for the company, including the development of procedures and workflows, and oversight of billing and AP/AR office staff. The role reports directly to the President/CEO.
Typical duties for this role:
General financial and tax
- Process and manage all banking and account reconciliation
- Manage of all internal financial processes
- Manage and maintain all corporate financials
- Generate and manage invoices for construction projects (AIA, Time and Materials)
- Perform and respond to Audits – internal and thoroughly responding to external
- Forecast financial data for budgeting
- Manage and auditing of project and material tax exemptions/credits
- Manage all federal, state, sales, and personal tax payments
- Oversee 401(k) contributions reporting and auditing
- Run Job Costing
- Maintain Internal and operational WIP
Insurance requirements
- Manage of wage and insurance rates and changes
- Gather and process all required payroll data for insurance audits
- Respond to and assist in external Insurance audits
- Compile all required data for insurance renewals and coverages
Skills and Experience for the role:
- At least 5 years leading a financial function
- Detailed QuickBooks experience is a must
- Experience working with AIA procedures and documents
- Comfort working within seasonally fluctuating cash flow cycles
- Facility working with multiple departments in a fast-paced environment
- Expertise in MS Office, particularly Excel spreadsheets,
- Previous experience managing people is a plus
- Experience in the construction industry is a plus
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills
- Track record of analyzing and improving processes
- Attention to detail – to ensure compliance and oversight of the AP/AR team
- Professional demeanor, especially in dealing with employees, clients and vendors
