SUMMARY
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the Accounting Department in various financial tasks, including data entry, maintaining records, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts. The ideal candidate should possess a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote good employee relations and high morale. Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers to achieve the best results possible.
- Account maintenance using JD Edwards Enterprise System. Accurately input data including invoices, daily production, payments, expenses, journal entries, vendor and new customer setup.
- Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including reconciling statements, monitoring overdue accounts, and communicating with vendors/customers.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, and partners through effective communication and coordination.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements. Provide support during audits or financial reviews.
- Provide general administrative support, such as organizing/filing documents, answering inquiries, and assisting with special projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Stay updated on changes in accounting principles and procedures.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strives for continuous improvement in their area of expertise and job function that results in better cost, quality, or functionality of the products we deliver to our customers.
LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- One to two years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Work in a manufacturing environment with infrequent exposure to heat, loud noise, dust, odors, and fumes.
- Occasional stand, walk, push, pull, reach, and grasp.
- Occasional lift, lower, and carry up to 50 pounds. Assistance is required when lifting over 50 pounds.
