Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Senior Design Engineer will play a key role in leading the design and development of innovative products for manufacturing, from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, project management, and team leadership within a manufacturing environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of new products for manufacturing, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Utilize engineering principles and advanced CAD software to create detailed designs and technical drawings optimized for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure product feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle, with a focus on manufacturing efficiency and scalability.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design engineering for manufacturing, and integrate relevant advancements into product development processes.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, and iterate designs based on feedback and test results to optimize manufacturability and performance.
  • Drive the resolution of technical issues and challenges encountered during product development and manufacturing, employing sound problem-solving skills and engineering principles.
  • Support the transition of product designs to manufacturing, collaborating with production teams to ensure a smooth and efficient production ramp-up.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design specifications, drawings, test plans, and other project-related documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to product design and development (e.g., ISO, FDA regulations) is desirable.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in product design and development, with a proven track record of bringing complex products to market.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to sit or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Office work environment / some production shop environment
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
