The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a key part in ensuring the Company's manufacturing processes are safe and efficient and produces high-quality products. The Manager is a cornerstone within the Company and drives continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing process. About the MFG Engineering Manager...

The MFG Engineering Manager's primary responsibility is developing and implementing the Company's manufacturing processes and equipment needed to build our particle characterization instruments. This successful candidate will lead a team of 10 MFG Engineers focusing on existing and new product introductions and ensuring the engineering team and other production teams work together to guarantee the ongoing safety of our teammates and ensure the quality of our products. This position is responsible for aligning the Engineering Department business plan with the Company's overall organizational objectives and targets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates would be able to demonstrate their experience transforming manufacturing processes within a make-to-order environment.
  • Acquired enough education and experience to be an effective leader, capable of making informed decisions, solving problems, and achieving the organization's strategic goals.
  • Understands and practices high-performing workplace practices and techniques.
  • Has earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering. An advanced degree is advantageous.
  • Advanced training in mechatronics, electronics, and mechanical engineering areas.
  • Experience creating and implementing manufacturing processes for new product introductions.

POSITION DUTIES & WORK TASKS:

  • Manage a manufacturing engineering team of 10 and incorporate high-performing workplace techniques to drive an effective work culture.
  • Provide engineering leadership across Micromeritics departments and foster inclusivity, collaboration, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Identify process optimization and improvement opportunities targeting efficiency, productivity, and quality within the manufacturing operations.
  • Translate improvement observations into workable plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve output.
  • Collaborate on New Product Introduction activities with R&D, Product Management, and Production teams with the goal of successful introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Lead engineer for the development of new manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Work with Quality team to ensure quality assurance and compliance of regulatory standards and internal quality standards.
  • Implement and monitor robust quality control measures to ensure the highest level of product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with purchasing team in the procurement and selection of suppliers/vendors.
  • Establish relationship with key suppliers/vendors to drive continuous improvement and cost reductions in the supply chain.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in manufacturing engineering, including process design, equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering, and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Possesses academic knowledge and has acquired 8+ years of practical experience in manufacturing engineering within a high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Has obtained mastery level engineering knowledge to be able to drive the engineering processes within a company.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and methodologies, with experience in Lean manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and driving process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in the scientific equipment industry or related fields where complex electromechanical assemblies are manufactured.
  • Knowledge of international management standards including quality control standards (ISO 9001) and environmental health and safety standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced process engineering, operation, and process design.
  • Proficient using CAD (SolidWorks) for designing and modifying drawings.
  • Proficient use of SPC to monitor and control manufacturing processes.
  • Experienced managing large CAPEX budgets and project management.
  • Skilled delegator and project leader.
  • Create a trustworthy environment for team members and build trust among company teams.
  • Applies professional engineering principles to solve complex production challenges and issues to find ways to improve the safety of employees, improve product quality, and improve assembly productivity.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to listen and understand information from a variety of sources, collect information and present it in a readable and understandable format, apply sound engineering principles and create effective solutions to improve production.
  • Has practiced emotional intelligence to understand and manage emotions and those of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to move in and around production cells. Sometimes crawl, kneel, reach around, and perform tasks in tight or hard to reach spaces.
  • Lift, carry, position/move, and adjust items weighing anywhere 5lbs to 50lbs.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools.
