Systems Engineer

SeKON has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the development of detailed system requirements and design documentation such as use cases, object models, data models, and XML schemas.
• Assists in developing test plans and cases and developing automated testing procedures for applications.
• Responsible for applications dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.
• Competent to work at the highest level on all phases of software systems programming applications.
• May have responsibility for the evaluation of new and existing software packages.
• Assist other systems programmers to effectively utilize the systems technical software.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates degree or the equivalent of two years pertinent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with application design and development for complex enterprise systems.
• Eligible for Public Trust Clearance
• 3-5 years of experience, with at least 2 years must be specialized in a development language, such as Java or Visual Basic.
• Solid understanding of AWS environments.
• Working knowledge in all aspects of automation, telecommunications, and IT networks.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience performing server systems design, implementation and administration and analyzing system failures to minimize outages and interruptions.
• Experience with AWS services such as SQS, S3, API Gateway and SNS
• Currently AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification
• System engineering experience taking project from initial concepts through planning and implementation.
• Working knowledge of SAN, clustering, backup and other enterprise applications to maintain availability and recoverability of systems.
