Job description

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a dynamic, hands-on futurefocused Innovation Project Manager to drive transformative initiatives that elevate our Learning & Development programs, operational processes, and firmwide innovation culture.

This role blends strategic innovation leadership, project management excellence, and technology-forward thinking. You will work crossfunctionally to identify highvalue opportunities, design pilot programs, introduce emerging tools (including AIenabled technologies), and guide projects from concept through implementation.

Reporting to the Director of Learning & Development, the Innovation Project Manager will serve as a champion of creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Innovation projects at H2M range in size, scope and complexity and are paramount to support our culture and position as a leader in the delivery of A/E services. The Innovation Project Managerโ€™s key responsibilities will include: ย  ย 

Innovation Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the evaluation and prioritization of innovation opportunities across the firm, identifying technologies, methods, and processes that enhance efficiency, quality, learning outcomes, and client value.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic innovation roadmap aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation by analyzing operational pain points, workflow inefficiencies, and emerging firm needs across disciplines
  • Conduct research into emerging technologiesโ€”including AI applications relevant to A/E practiceโ€”and translate findings into actionable solutions.

Project Management & Execution

  • Lead and manage innovation projects from inception through delivery, including scoping, resource planning, timelines, budgets, pilot testing, and implementation.
  • Oversee the development of experiments and pilot programs designed to evaluate new tools, platforms, or methodologies.
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives with competing priorities in a utilizationdriven environment.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Create and maintain project charters, milestone plans, dashboards, and executive-ready reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Work closely with leaders across all departments to understand needs, identify opportunities, and align innovation efforts with business priorities.
  • Partner with IT, HR, and operational groups on technology deployment, training, and change management.
  • Communicate effectively with audiences ranging from technical staff to executive leadership, including CEOlevel briefings.
  • Collaborate with external partners, thought leaders, or vendors as needed.

Technology Integration & AI Enablement

  • Evaluate and recommend new learning technologies, digital tools, and platforms that improve learner engagement and business performance.
  • Support the integration of AI-enabled solutions into workflows where they enhance productivity, risk reduction, design quality, or operational efficiency.

Change Management & Training Enablement

  • Develop and support change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new tools and processes.
  • Work with Learning & Development to develop training resources, workshops, and communication plans that support rollout and adoption.
  • Translate complex conceptsโ€”especially AI and technical systemsโ€”into simple, practical use cases for teams.

Measurement, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track project outcomes, adoption rates, and ROI.
  • Produce regular executivelevel reports and dashboards summarizing progress and insights.
  • Identify areas for ongoing improvement and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Lead or support other business improvement initiatives as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Technology, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience with project management or innovation initiatives. (AEC Industry experience preferred)
  • Experience working in operational environments with an ability to analyze and improve existing cross-functional processes. (Process improvements experience preferred)
  • PMP, CIP or related certification strongly desired.
  • Experience with AI tools, low-code tools, digital transformation, or emerging technology implementation is a plus, experience with copilot a plus.

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $148,000 annually.
