Job title: Outreach and Enrolment Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Officer

Status: Full Time

The Organization

Operation Samahan (OpSam Health) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. Founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels regardless of their ability to pay.

JOB PURPOSE

The Community Outreach Coordinator plays a pivotal role in creating awareness of Operation Samahan, Inc.’s services. S/he assists the CEO with market segment research to identify appropriate outreach channels as a means to informing service expansion growth strategies and partners with community organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Using the organizational strategic plan, identify appropriate target market segments for outreach efforts.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of outreach and health education events.
  • Establish and maintain synergistic relationships with community organizations and public agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO, grant program managers, and clinical staff to develop and operationalize market segment-specific outreach campaigns and activities, including all required campaign collateral.
  • Prepare campaign and informational materials
  • Provide outreach reports as directed by the CEO
  • Plan, recruit for, facilitate, and report on patient and community focus groups.
  • Develop health education curricula and presentations in collaboration with appropriate providers to ensure high value and culturally appropriate content.
  • Work with executive team to strategize and employ different marketing tools to promote the organization to the community
  • Social media development, engagement, and maintenance (Facebook, twitter, Instagram, etc)
  • Promote and increase the health center brand awareness
  • Liaise with existing organization partners (private and public) and identify and build new ones
  • Seek and engage the organization in community events, celebrations, or festivals with proper coordination with supervisor and staff
  • Research additional relevant opportunities for exposure
  • Coordinate with development director and assist in all fundraising projects.
  • Enroll uninsured patients into medi-cal or covered California either through outreach efforts or phone calls as directed by the CEO

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in public health or related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to develop effective health communication material and compelling presentations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including networking.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of professionalism.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media. Familiarity with graphic design, web design, and/or art direction a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of branding principles.
  • Familiarity with local and appropriate community contacts.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of health communication
  • Willingness to travel

Contribute to team effort; and comply with all facility policies and procedures including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Compliance and performs other duties as assigned.

Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Has the ability to write complex correspondence. Has the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, visitors, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical and Statistical Skills

Has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate figures. Has the ability to analyze complex data sets.

Reasoning Ability

Has the ability to solve practical complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
