Driver Supervisor

Job purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the administration of daily outbound shipments to customers and other distribution areas within the organization. Must ensure a safe and secure working environment and operate in a profitable manner.

Duties and responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers
• Ensure all drivers are appropriately trained in job duties and safety & legal responsibilities
• Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same
• Schedule drivers appropriately according to division devised methodology
• Foster an atmosphere of communication and encourage and motivate associates to achieve departmental goals and objectives
• Maintain appropriate records for all drivers
• Assist in investigation of all accidents; Maintain incident records and take appropriate preventative action
• Organize and load product for delivery, ensuring efficient delivery routes and schedules
• Run delivery routes in the absence of coverage to ensure that all deliveries are made
• Maintain appropriate delivery records and documents

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Must be 18 or older
• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 years Transportation or Delivery experience
• Must be able to interpret and implement all necessary State and Federal transportation laws and regulations
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have a clean driving record
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Outstanding Verbal & Written Communication Skills
• Ability to multi-task with minimal errors
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within necessary time constraints
• Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision
• Knowledge of safe work practices
• Ability to operate various tools and equipment necessary for the position

PREFERRED

• Previous Transportation Supervisor experience
• Previous food service or distribution experience
