General Description

The SR. Manager of Financial Planning and Accounting Systems Administration position is responsible for the strategic financial planning and the seamless administration of the companies’ accounting systems. This dual-role mandate ensures not only optimal financial planning and reporting but also guarantees the governance, integrity, and efficient use of our accounting technology. The primary objective of this role is to drive strategic financial decisions through accurate planning, robust system management, and diligent reporting, ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency.

The accounting department is essential in not only meeting critical compliance requirements and reporting on the financial health, but also is a key service provider to employees and managers of Bristol Alliance of Companies.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

· Liaise closely with executive leadership, department heads and external partners, playing a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and operational best practices.

· Offer unparalleled customer service to our operations groups and administrative leaders.

· Ensure stringent compliance and reporting on Bristol Alliance of Companies financial well-being but also serving as a key service hub for both our esteemed employees and managers.

· Spearhead financial planning initiatives, analyzing variances, trends, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

· Manage the system administrator (working with the IT Manager), providing mentoring, guidance, and accountability.

· Be a key stakeholder in projects for the implementation, upgrade & interoperability of accounting software and systems, including Unanet, Bristol Dashboard and UKG Pro.

· Ensure proper governance, accessibility, optimal use, and troubleshoot any issues within the accounting software and systems.

· Engage actively with software and systems vendors for timely updates and support.

· Address and resolve any system processes, report issues, or end-user queries promptly.

· Lead the strategic effort in finding cross departmental solutions for challenges where systems automation, auditing and governance will lead to data integrity and efficiency.

· Oversee and mentor a team of financial analysts, ensuring their growth and contributions align with Bristol's mission.

· Curate, validate, deploy, and document both recurring and ad-hoc financial reports as required by organizational leadership and other stakeholders.

· Guarantee the precision of these reports through rigorous quality assurance and data audit processes.

· Deliver financial insights and data pivotal for company-wide decision-making and compliance.

· Ensure regular production and dissemination of both internal and external financial narratives and reports.

· Lead Annual budget preparation and management

· Manage Cost pools, Indirect Billing Rates and other contract support needs.

· Manage Project setup automation and process improvement.

· Coordinate Cost plus and T&M Unanet system billing implementation to support project teams.

· Provide backup support in senior accounting capacities when necessary and ensure a seamless workflow.

· Innovate and optimize systems, workflows, and processes within the financial planning and accounting systems administration divisions.

· Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Ability to collaborate positively with other departments, understanding their unique challenges and requirements, is critical.

· Knowledge of accounting, financial, and business principles.

· Skilled in financial planning, reporting and GAAP.

· Skilled in gathering end user requirements, documenting and organizing information.

· Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills used to analyze data, work through business process issues, and identify data quality issues and opportunities for operational and system-based efficiencies.

· Expertly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, expert use of Excel, and other relevant financial software.

· Ability to lead transformation projects and oversee large-scale operational changes, particularly systems migrations and upgrades.

· Skilled communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

· Knowledge of DCAA requirements and FAR 31.

· Ability to work flexible hours to meet strict deadlines.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Knowledge of government contracting accounting, rate development, and cost pools.

· Knowledge of Unanet or Costpoint ERP.

· Knowledge of UKG Pro.

Required Qualification:

· High school diploma or GED is required.

· Bachelor’s degree in a business, accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent work experience is required.

· Minimum of 8 years of combined finance and accounting experience is required.

· Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is required.

· Prior experience with government contracting and preferably construction is required.

· Valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in a related field or CMA certification is preferred.

· Experience with DCAA and other audits is preferred.

· Experience with Alaska Native Corporations, Tribes or NHOs and the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program is preferred.

· Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
