Job description

Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage international strategic partnerships and advisory projects across key markets, with a primary focus on Mexico, Latin America, and other global regions.
* Serve as a primary relationship and project lead with international hospital partners, internal SMEs, physicians, finance, contracts, and operational teams.
* Oversee project scopes, timelines, deliverables, milestones, risks, budgets, and leadership updates to ensure advisory work is completed on time and aligned with client goals.
* Build PMO discipline across global partnership projects, including structured action plans, governance, KPI tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
* Support business development growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding existing partnerships, and translating client needs into proposals, scopes of work, and future collaboration.
Qualifications
* Strong healthcare project management, advisory, business development, or client relationship management experience.
* Ability to manage multiple complex international workstreams with executive-level communication and follow-through.
* Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written communication required). Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish proficiently in a professional business environment.
*Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
*Travel requirement: up to 30-50% international travel may be required based on operational needs.
At Houston Methodist, the Global Strategic Partnerships Manager (GSPM) is responsible for managing and expanding relationships with key partners across multiple target countries for Houston Methodist Global Health Care Services (HMG). This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate diverse markets and cultures. The GSPM focuses on building and nurturing long-term relationships with international partner organizations beyond immediate transactions; understanding partner organization goals, fostering trust, and maintaining open lines of communication; and creating loyalty, enhancing partnership engagement, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and growth.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  • MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • Five years of experience in the health care industry in a client management role capacity with two years supervisory experience, preferably in an international setting
  • For HM applicants, four years HM experience with two years of progressively responsible leadership/project management experience will be considered
  • Proven experience in health care with external relationship management, sales, or business development, preferably in an international context

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Provides training and support to HM SMEs and international partner project managers and teams to enhance their skills and knowledge. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in project management practices.
  • Provides training and support on implemented solutions to ensure effective usage and adoption. Offers ongoing support to address any challenges or questions that arise post-implementation.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develops and maintains strong, long-term relationships with partner organizations to understand their needs and objectives. Serves as the primary point of contact for relationship management, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly. Facilitates communication and collaboration among project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensures that projects align with the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities, facilitating the selection and prioritization of projects based on their alignment with business goals. Collaborates with partner organizations to define project scopes, goals, and deliverables.
  • Oversees project progress and satisfaction, using implemented metrics, KPIs and feedback to assess performance. Prepares and delivers regular reports on project status, risks, resource allocation, outcomes, and feedback to stakeholders and senior management. Maintains accurate records of interactions, project milestones, and financials. Formally reports on project status to internal and external stakeholders, fostering transparency and accountability.
  • Oversees change management initiatives related to project execution and organizational transformations. Ensures that changes are communicated effectively and integrated into project plans.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Establishes and enforces project management methodologies, standards, and best practices across the organization. Develops governance frameworks to monitor project performance and compliance.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates project risks through proactive planning and monitoring. Develops and implements risk management frameworks and tools. Conducts regular project reviews to assess risks, challenges, and successes.
  • Evaluates project outcomes and identifies lessons learned to improve future project management practices. Promotes a culture of feedback and innovation within the PMO and project teams.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Oversees the delivery of advisory services, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinates with internal and external teams to allocate resources and ensure alignment with international partner goals.
  • Oversees the allocation and management of resources (human, financial, and technical) across projects. Identifies resource gaps and recommends solutions to optimize resource utilization.
  • Creates and presents proposals, including scope of work, timelines, and budgets. Negotiates contract terms and conditions with international partner organizations.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Stays informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices to provide informed recommendations to international partner organizations. Stays updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements in target countries. Analyzes client data to identify areas for improvement and growth. Identifies opportunities for enhancing additional services or solutions provided to client group based on needs.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to expand HMG’s global partnership network and service offerings. Attends industry events and networking functions to build relationships and promote HMG’s services.
