What We Need

Corpay is seeking a Director, Corporate Strategy to help shape and execute the company's global growth agenda. This role will sit at the intersection of corporate strategy, business line strategy, CEO-sponsored initiatives, partnerships, and corporate development support.

The Director will operate as an internal strategy partner to Corpay's CEO, senior leadership team, and business leaders, helping answer high-priority growth and operating questions through rigorous analysis, market research, competitive intelligence, product benchmarking, business case development, and executive-ready recommendations. The role will own CEO-priority initiatives and special projects, support mid-term growth planning, lead workstreams for senior leadership strategy offsites, and help advance partnership studies and M&A strategy.

The ideal candidate is a structured problem solver with strong analytical horsepower, excellent communication skills, and the ability to move from ambiguous questions to clear recommendations and practical execution plans. The team will use modern analytical, research, and AI-enabled tools to improve the speed and quality of its work, but the core mandate is strategy ownership, executive problem solving, and high-quality project execution.

Prior experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or transaction diligence is a plus, but not required.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Growth Strategy & Strategic Planning
    • Owning strategic initiatives and special projects tied to Corpay's short-, medium-, and long-term growth priorities, including projects sponsored by the CEO and senior leadership team.
    • Building fact bases and executive-ready recommendations around market opportunities, customer needs, demand drivers, competitive dynamics, product gaps, and growth vectors.
    • Supporting mid-term growth strategy planning, including CEO and senior leadership offsites, business line strategy sessions, and follow-up execution rhythms.
    • Translating ambiguous strategic questions into structured workplans, clear analyses, and practical recommendations.
  • Internal Consulting & CEO Special Projects
    • Serving as an internal consulting partner to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Corpay business lines on high-priority growth, product, market, partnership, and operating questions.
    • Developing market sizing, business cases, forecasts, competitor profiles, product benchmarks, performance analyses, CEO updates, and executive presentations.
    • Synthesizing complex findings into concise decision memos, presentation materials, CEO-ready updates, and senior leadership discussion documents.
    • Owning multiple strategic workstreams with strong project discipline, stakeholder communication, and follow-through from problem definition through recommendation and execution planning.
  • Partnerships & Build / Buy / Partner Strategy
    • Evaluating build, buy, and partner paths for new growth initiatives, product adjacencies, market entries, and distribution opportunities.
    • Conducting partnership studies, identify potential partners, assess strategic fit, and help shape partnership concepts.
    • Partnering with business line, product, technology, finance, legal, and external stakeholders to move selected opportunities from idea to launch plan.
  • M&A Strategy & Corporate Development Support
    • Supporting M&A strategy by identifying priority markets, strategic themes, potential targets, and acquisition rationales.
    • Building market maps, target profiles, strategic fit assessments, and diligence support materials.
    • Partnering with corporate development, finance, legal, and business leaders on transaction-related analysis when needed.
    • Helping connect acquisition, partnership, and organic growth opportunities into a coherent view of Corpay's growth strategy.
  • External Consultants & Advisors
    • Scoping, source, and manage external consultants or advisors for selected strategic projects.
    • Defining problem statements, deliverables, timelines, and quality expectations.
    • Ensuring external work is translated into practical recommendations and internal capability-building.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5-10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, corporate development, business operations, product strategy, private equity, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical toolkit, including market sizing, business case development, competitive analysis, financial modeling, and executive-level synthesis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into crisp executive narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to own multiple ambiguous projects and drive workstreams from problem definition through recommendation and execution planning, including CEO- or senior executive-sponsored initiatives.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work effectively with senior leaders, business operators, product teams, finance, technology, legal, and external partners.
  • High ownership, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, discretion, and willingness to do hands-on work.

Preferred

  • Experience in B2B payments, fintech, financial services, software, data products, or tech-enabled business services.
  • Background in top-tier strategy consulting, banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or corporate development.
  • Experience with M&A strategy, transaction diligence, partnership evaluation, or post-merger integration.
  • Comfort using modern analytical, research, and AI-enabled tools to improve research, analysis, .etc.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.

Personal Qualifications

The successful candidate will likely come from consulting, banking, corporate strategy, corporate development, or a similarly analytical business environment. They will be comfortable moving between strategy and execution, able to work directly with senior executives, and energized by owning high-priority initiatives in a fast-moving global payments business.
