Description

The J's Aquatics program has something for everyone. From recreation to guided aqua fitness classes, our pools are perfect for getting fit and having fun. With both outdoor and indoor pools, The J delivers an aquatic experience all year-round.

The Supervisor, Aquatics supports aquatic programs and staff by performing a variety of supervisory, administrative, sales and customer service functions.

Schedule is varied during the weekdays and includes working Sundays.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise Lifeguard staff, which includes hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and employee relations
  • Provide monthly training for winter lifeguard staff and biweekly training for summer lifeguard staff
  • Work with Aquatics Manager to oversee and assist with group lessons as needed
  • Learn and use technology and software for customer relationship management; communication; sales; accounting; and human resources management
  • Collect and update lifeguard clipboard with usage sheets and document sheets, update staff bulletin boards and call sheets
  • Keep the live pool calendar up-to-date
  • Assist with responding to phone calls for group class enrollment and private swim voucher purchases
  • Provide coverage of direct service when other staff members are unavailable
  • Assist with summer preparations, which includes physical set-up and administrative tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness, program quality, and overall safety in aquatics area

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be American Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding First Aid/AED/CPR
  • Must be American Red Cross certified in Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
  • Previous supervisory experience needed
  • Willing to become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) or American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT)
  • Willing to attend a Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) academy within a year of employment
  • Able to learn and use a variety of software programs
  • Able to provide exemplary customer service in-person, on the phone and via email
  • Able to perform tasks that require attention to detail and accuracy

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to complete the Lifeguard pre-course skills: 300 swim, 20 yard brick test, 2 minutes of treading
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
