Admiral Instruments is searching for a full-time Director of Operations specializing in Human Resources. Our company is expanding into a beautiful 10,000 sqft facility in the heart of Tempe, Arizona and we are planning to roughly double our employee headcount to a total of 20 people in the coming months!

As Admiral Instruments grows, many of the operations-related responsibilities that have been performed by our President now need to be delegated to this newly-created position. This position has a clear path for promotion into a Vice President of Operations once these duties become too involved to be performed by a single talented individual.

Here are some key duties you'll have as it relates to your role:

  • Create new (and improve existing) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company Policy documents for all non-production related activities
  • Work closely with the President to help recruit, interview, and onboard new team members
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all team members with Human Resources requests, including running regularly-scheduled performance review meetings alongside the President
  • Process incoming Purchase Orders and oversee order fulfillment with our Production Department
  • Oversee customer engagement documented in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reports and suggesting process upgrades
  • Supervise personnel and department-wide meeting schedules, documenting major outcomes of daily meetings and coordinating cross-department attendance when appropriate
  • Be chiefly responsible for the general layout & maintenance of our office and production areas
  • Visit local vendors periodically to assist with non-production tasks on behalf of the President

Pay And Benefits:

  • Annual base pay ranges from $75,000 to $120,000 depending on experience
  • Freedom to set your own 40-hour per week daily working schedule
  • Comprehensive benefits including flexible PTO, profit sharing, medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plan
  • Supportive small team environment which trusts your work ethic and respects your time

Who We're Seeking:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field of study that relates to any of the following: Operations, Human Resources, and/or Engineering
  • 2+ years directing duties within a team consisting of at least 5 people on a daily basis
  • Natural inclination to create detailed documentation when performing all aspects of this role
  • Extroverted personality excited to create camaraderie in an engineering-centric company culture
  • Enthusiasm for helping complete a wide variety of duties within a small company (<20 people)

Nice-To-Haves:

  • Familiarity with the battery, electronics manufacturing, or automotive manufacturing industry
  • Proven attention to detail as demonstrated by safely and efficiently running technical operations in a 10,000 sqft office and warehouse
  • If you are seriously interested in an interview, please have the word "Squidstat" prominently featured in your application. This is to test your attention to detail!
  • Experience working with customers and/or business entities internationally
  • Proficiency with the following software: HubSpot, Jira, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365 (as an admin)

Closing Statement:

The entire Admiral Instruments team makes every possible effort to foster a supportive working environment that prioritizes an open and positive mindset. Our top-5 core values are transparency, vigilance, enthusiasm, creativity, and safety. All who empathize with these core values are encouraged to join us!

Company Description
Admiral Instruments is on a mission to make the next generation of electrochemistry instruments truly accessible worldwide.

Why are we on this mission? Every day, all of us use portable electronics containing batteries, ride in cars or similar modes of transportation, eat packaged food, and drink clean water. At their core, these are all "electrochemical" systems comprised of chemical reactions between electricity and solid, liquid, or gaseous materials. Electrochemistry instruments are must-have tools used by millions of scientists, engineers, & technicians worldwide to study and manufacture the electrochemical technologies modern living relies on.

By carrying out our mission, we empower users to operate our instruments more efficiently than traditional options that have been in use for decades. By saving our customers’ money, time, and space without compromising measurement quality, we accelerate their own pace of innovation to create better performing batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, sensors, medical devices, protective coatings, and other advanced materials to benefit our global society.

Since our founding in February 2017, we have supplied thousands of electrochemistry instruments (and more every day!) to organizations in over 40 countries, including Fortune 50 companies, startups, universities, and government research labs. Our growth plans primarily focus on serving the rapidly-evolving hardware and software needs of the battery industry and fuel cell industry.
