Wage range: $16.00 per hour to $19.00 per hour based on prior related stock or cooking experience.

The Receiving Clerk/Prep Cook ensures efficiency in the acquisition, storage, and distribution of our supply chain including food and non-food items and other food services-related materials. Receives, stocks, and distributes supplies and materials to proper departments and/or areas in a timely manner. Inventories and replenishes user area stock. Reports variances to department manager including damages, defects, and missing items.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper receiving and storage of all food and supplies.
  • Assists with unloading and verifying purchased food and supply shipments into the kitchen against requisitions and invoices.
  • Corrects and/or notifies vendors and supervisors of errors at the time of delivery.
  • Place orders away properly, using the FIFO system, in the designated areas.
  • Keeps storerooms clean, organized and free of clutter.
  • Ensures all items in storage areas are properly labeled and dated according to policy.
  • Daily cleaning and organizing of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and freezers. Ensures food storage areas shelves are clean and stocked by front-facing, checking dates, labels, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
  • Monitors products on hand and makes managers and cooks aware of any items nearing expiration to be utilized in operation.
  • Monitors product usage for appropriate par levels.
  • Daily physical inventory and ordering of foods and supplies.
  • Inventory management tasks assist with inventory counts, product ordering & end of the monthly process.
  • Immediately reports safety hazards.
  • Maintain and promote a friendly and approachable attitude towards the client, guests, and staff.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with all staff members for overall success.
  • This position will cross train to Prep Cook for 2 shift per week

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during meal preparation and service. Lifting, carrying trays and boxes, up to 25lbs. Push/Pull Food Hot Boxes up to 50lbs. Bend, stoop for access to carts, food, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for the use of kitchen utensils and tools. Visuals for reading menus, labels, and directions. Hearing to respond to verbal communications. Taste and Smell to assess food quality, freshness, and adherence to dietary requirements. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Ensuring that diet aides meet these physical and sensory requirements is crucial to their ability to contribute effectively to the well-being of senior residents in a senior living community.

What you will need:

  • 18 years or older, pending specific state requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Successful background check and drug screen, state specific
  • Health screening and TB tests, state specific
  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card, state specific
  • The ability to work holiday and weekend shift schedules.
  • Basic computer skills
