Job Description

As a member of the advanced technical staff, the Electrical Engineer is involved in all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion. You’ll create and develop innovative concepts for new products or improvements to existing ones. This involves designing circuits for both digital and analog systems, including component selection, thermal considerations, and physical layout of schematics and printed circuit boards (PCBs). Involvement of assigned projects in a manner that exceeds customers’ expectations and ensures that work adheres to all company policies is required.

 

Responsibilities

·         Develop and analyze precision analog circuits for electronic instrumentation including capacitive and resistive sensing, control loop, and power distribution.

·         Circuit design and schematic capture, component selection, and physical layout.

·         Drive product certification of newly designed products for various safety standards.

·         Analysis and design of digital signal processing circuits, firmware, and software for sensor signal conditioning.

·         Analysis for worst-case tolerance and potential failure modes (FMEA).

·         Conduct testing and evaluation of prototype products and circuits.

·         Follow products development from concept through production.

·         Work with other design engineering disciplines and applications engineers to provide optimum designs on a rapid schedule.

·         Work with manufacturing during new product introduction and troubleshooting failure modes for existing products.

·         Work with suppliers for specification and fabrication of new designs and existing products.

·         Work with customers to provide engineering support of new applications and existing products.

 

Qualifications

·         Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent (including physics) from an accredited institution. Master of Science degree with significant graduate level research or the equivalent in advanced development environments is desired.

·         3-5 years of experience.

·         Product development cycle experience from concept through production release.

·         Analog and digital circuit design, analysis, and simulation.

·         Component evaluation and selection.

·         Manage PCB layout and assembly of engineering prototypes.

·         Performance and validation testing.

·         Manage product certification tests for FCC, CE, and UL safety.

·         Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Work well with others in a team environment.

·         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.

·         Experience and interest in generating proposals that provide potential customers with complete system concepts and solutions to their system requirements.

·         Preferred: PCB layout using Altium and OrCAD tool sets.

·         Preferred: Embedded system firmware using C and assembly language.

·         Preferred: Digital signal processing algorithm development.

·         Preferred: Control loop design and implementation (analog and/or digital).
