Caterpillar's BCP division is hiring for Electrical System Engineer in Clayton, NC!
Mission:
The Building Construction Products Division (BCP) Electrical & Electronics Engineering team are committed to deliver competitive, reliable, cost effective, electrical system designs to BCP products groups per the machine development programs timetables. As more electronic features are adopted into construction equipment, this team is challenged to provide results in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Role Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for delivering solutions to our customers with the design, development and integration of systems and components machine updates. You will work with teams within BCP and across Caterpillar to gather requirements for and lead the design of electrical architecture, component selection, validation and testing. These solutions will be evaluated on the criteria of both meeting customer requirements as well as creating an optimized set of solutions that best meet Caterpillar business objectives.
What You'll Do (Job Duties)
  • Designing electrical system architecture
  • Designing electrical wire harnesses
  • Collaborating with enterprise partners for optimizing the solution for the business needs
  • Ensuring designs progress per machine development times lines.
  • Providing decision making and support for on machine testing and validation.

What You Have (Core Skills)
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical preferred or relevant experience working on machine electrical and electronics
  • Fundamental understanding of mobile machine operation, ideally construction equipment and operations
  • Experience/Knowledge with electrical schematic software
  • Experience with Electrical system design
  • Experience with 3D modelling software
  • Ability to support 'hands on' trouble shooting on machines.
  • Strong communication skills, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with a culturally diverse work group
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electrical system failure modes

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
