Job Description:

Responsibilities: 

• Is responsible for the full operation of fermenters (sterilization of fermenter contents, fermenter repair and troubleshooting, inoculation, cell growth/feeding, harvest, devitalization of cells, fermenter cleaning), possesses a high level of sterile technique, inoculates shake flasks and samples shake flasks in a sterile manner, performs fermenter sampling and monitoring during routine work hours, operates autoclave in a safe manner, mixes acids/bases in a safe manner, performs off-line sample analysis that involves the use of the following equipment, viscometer, centrifuge, spectrophotometer, and pH meter, performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure accurate operation.

• Handles receipt and stocking of materials and supplies. 
• Identifies opportunities, with management input, to improve material use and reduce costs. 
• Identifies opportunities to further enhance the work process or experimental design based on personal experience and through deployment of improvement tools such as participation on Six Sigma project teams. 
• Contributes actively to managing team workload. 
• Demonstrates behaviors that enhance and accelerate team performance.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of basic computer skills including MS Office platforms such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
