Job Summary

The Unit Manager is responsible for all operational aspects within the Business Unit while driving improvements in Safety, Quality, Line Performance, and Cost. They will successfully manage a diverse workforce of both salaried and hourly individuals, providing coaching, feedback, accountability, and direction. They will execute the operational plan related to the Business Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leadership
  1. Ability to lead, manage, and develop a team of Salary and Hourly employees
  2. Clear understanding of resource management, people, and cost
  3. Demonstrated leadership in the areas of safety, quality, and line performance
  4. Ability to execute and manage change related to business processes
  5. High level of accountability for delivering results
• Loss Elimination
  1. Implement and lead the Business Unit through a continuous improvement journey
  2. Drive accountability and adherence to new business processes that support loss elimination
  3. Drive breakthrough results in OEE, planned and unplanned downtime
  4. Carry out root cause analysis and standardization to drive loss elimination
• Delivering Results
  1. Ensures adherence to Daily, Weekly, Monthly Direction Setting Meetings
  2. Supports development and execution of loss tree analysis, line level 90-day plans
  3. Builds capability of the front-line leaders to understand losses through data
  4. Responsible for budget and cost management of the Business Unit
• Technical Ability
  1. Has technical knowledge related to process and packaging line principles
  2. Develops technical knowledge of front-line leaders and drive accountability for the development of the hourly team members
  3. Works with Asset Care team to drive the Break Down Elimination Process and improve Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Ownership the reporting and accuracy of the Business Unit KPI’s
• Understand and teach basic line flow principles to Operations and Maintenance Teams
• Serve as backup to Operations Manager
• Oversee change management for the Business Unit
• Manage the daily operation of the Business Unit and develop plans to deliver the annual operation plan

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS in Business, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent years of experience
• Experience in high speed food or beverage manufacturing
• Experience leading a group of salary and hourly employees
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, vendors, and customers
• Effective analytical, administrative, and organizational skills
• Willing to work any shift, weekends if necessary to cover the needs of the business
