IT NETWORK ENGINEER

QTEC Aerospace is seeking an IT NETWORK ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The successful candidate will be part of the Platform and Infrastructure (P&I) information technology team.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Assist senior system administrators and government network subject matter experts with the management and sustainment of network components supporting associated support networks

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree in a related discipline with at least 5 years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Candidate must meet minimum DOD 8570 IAT II certification requirements with any of the following certifications (e.g., Security +, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of network architecture, engineering, design, implementation, and testing
• Understanding of network communication protocols and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP) and IP network troubleshooting
• Basic knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls
• Knowledge of TCP/IP behavior, network communications and routing protocols, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting experience
• Familiarity with network communication products, including routers, switches, firewalls, Domain Name Servers (DNS), and data encryption products
• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools as needed
• Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge, skill sets, or experience using protocol analyzers/sniffers (e.g., Wireshark)
• Experience in Network Management Systems (HP Network Node Manager, Solarwinds, and NAS/SAN technologies (NetApp or Gigastore)
• Certifications in the industry vendor Juniper or Cisco

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
