OVERVIEW

The EXCEL Program Case Manager will provide support to refugee families served by the USCRI Vermont Office in Colchester. The EXCEL (Excellence through Care, Empowerment, and Learning) program is intended to provide additional case management support after the initial resettlement period to families with young children. This support includes assistance to help develop self-sufficiency by encouraging growth particularly in the areas of financial literacy, digital literacy, and mental health. This position reports to the Program Coordinator of Education.

USCRI has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. All employees must be fully vaccinated to work at any / all locations at USCRI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide specialized case management services that will advance clients’ collective capabilities in navigating local health and human service programs through additional education, guidance, and support;.
  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment of clients in the EXCEL activities;
  • Maintain case files, collect case information, submit written reports as required;
  • Provide cross-cultural information, orient refugee families to their new community, and ensure a smooth process of resettlement;
  • Work to connect clients with supportive community networks and support systems to ensure their long-term integration in the community;
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and work with community partners to learn about resources for refugees and make referrals when needed;
  • Ensure that refugees are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide education and advocacy when necessary;
  • Ensure that grant specific requirements for case management services are fulfilled; and
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree in social work, human services or other relevant fields preferred; or two years experience working in human services; other experiences will be considered;
  • Experience in case management or social work preferred;
  • Bilingual/multi-lingual preferred in Arabic, Dari, French, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, Swahili;
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high level of self-motivation;
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through without loss of attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently as well as be a team player;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis;
  • Must have a valid State issued driver's license, insurance, clean driving record and personal transportation;
  • Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace; and
  • Dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory Completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor(s), program director or Human Resources

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
  • Lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying;
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements); and
  • COVID vaccination is mandatory
