GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lead Case Manager is responsible for coordinating case management and safe and timely release of services, training new case managers, and supervising the work of other case managers. The Lead Case Manager provides direct oversight of the department and will use professional judgement and monitor the department’s overall functions and job duties.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Provide oversight and direct supervision of case management department including comprehensive services offered to children while in care.
  • Assign caseloads, provide training to new hires, refreshers, and policy updates to case managers.
  • Create and manage department schedules, manuals, guides, employee timecards/requests.
  • Evaluation of staff performance, providing feedback, and helping resolve employee issues in communication with immediate supervisor and human resources.
  • Supervise staff to ensure they maintain a trauma-informed view of each child in his/her caseload and helps staff develop this perspective.
  • Facilitate effective communication with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Conduct audits or content review of cases (physical and electronic) to ensure proper reunification progress or identify delays. Address findings with case managers.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics, and additional relevant information in accordance with agency policy, licensing, and/or funding requirements.
  • Coordinate with third party contractors, ORR, and other outside service providers to share and staff all pertinent information and updates on cases and participate in weekly case staffing.
  • Enter, upload, and submit accurate documentation in case management database.
  • Adhere to all timeframes and deadlines as per policies and procedures.
  • Assist staff with communicating with children and/or sponsor and family members to explain and discuss reunification procedures and concerns, as needed.
  • Confirm that staff complete and conduct all necessary required assessments, interviews, and service planning abiding by policies to ensure safe release of child.
  • Monitor child’s services, ensures all required services are delivered, ensures appointments are made, and communicates with appropriate staff as well as sponsors and family in home country.
  • Maintain coverage for review of staff cases prior to release submission and provides recommendations to ensure safe release of children.
  • Assist in coordinating releases and discharge/transfer paperwork when necessary.
  • May carry a small caseload, when necessary.
  • Attend external and internal program training and meetings when required.
  • Participate in activities or supplemental training that promote professional growth and development.
  • Engage staff to involve children, sponsors, and family in the reunification process.
  • Able to react to change productively, fast-paced environment, and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Work evenings, weekend rotation, holidays, and on call as needed to assist with program emergencies, crisis, or ongoing reunification process as requested by supervisor.
  • Ability to evacuate/travel if needed due to natural disaster.
  • Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and/or REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED

  • A Master of Social Work (MSW) or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science field. This requirement may be substituted by a bachelor’s in one of the aforementioned sciences, and a minimum of 3 years of progressive employment that demonstrates case management and supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of family preservation, kinship care, trauma informed care, child welfare policies and procedures, and relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal/written).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with families, caseworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
  • A valid driver's license, available to travel to sister programs for meetings or training.

WORK CONDITIONS
