POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of Quality is responsible for overseeing the operation of the quality management
system and for ensuring continual quality improvement within the facility. The Manager of
Quality will provide leadership in all aspects related to quality, ultimately, driving excellence in
customer satisfaction.
POSITION DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determines quality goals and strategies for the company ensuring they meet all
customer, industry, regulatory, and strategic requirements. - Develops and reviews policies and procedures ensuring quality concerns and issues are
identified and controlled. - Assists with sales and engineering to review specifications, product development
and reliability of product to ensure quality standards are met and customer satisfaction
is maintained. - Supervises inspectors, technicians and other employees and provides leadership,
guidance, and feedback. - Prepares and reviews budgets for quality assurance activities.
- Conducts and/or directs risk assessments and develops appropriate quality plans.
- Conducts and/or directs audits ensuring quality standards are met and goals
related metrics are consistently trending in the correct direction. - Liaises with customer quality departments.
- Manages relationship with external auditors and ensures continued registration with ISO 9000.
- Manages relationship with CWB and ensures compliance issues are resolved.
- Develops training plans and conducts/organizes training to reduce re-work and to
improve overall quality. - Participates in production meetings with the manufacturing team.
- Provides managers and supervisors with the appropriate training and accountability as
required by the quality management program. - Ensures investigations and root cause analysis are performed for non-conformances and
corrective and preventative actions are completed in a timely manner. - Ensures inspections are carried out at critical steps of process.
- Ensures approval and rejection decisions are in line with quality management
system and customer requirements. - Keeps accurate documentation and performs statistical analysis.
- Reviews the rework data, non-conformances data, and quality reports to identify
the needs for new or modified programs. - Submits detailed reports relating to quality records and objectives.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitates a work environment that supports a quality improvement culture.
- Keeps up to date on machines, equipment or process changes ensuring that quality
plans remain relevant. - Evaluates the effectiveness of the program on a regular basis.
- Coaches and mentor employees as required.
- Ensures adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
- Performs other work/tasks/duties assigned over the course of employment as deemed necessary
to support the needs of the business which are not listed above. Work/tasks will be assigned
through the employee's manager/immediate supervisor or by senior leadership.
SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth understanding of quality control systems.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations.
- Strong knowledge of calibration and ability to read blueprints.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
- Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Good leadership, organizational and planning skills.
- Problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, multitask, and manage time effectively.
- Motivation, drive and demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Quality Management or related field; or High School Diploma with
6-10 years of quality systems experience - 4+ years of related work experience preferred.
- CWB/CWI experience preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc)
- Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills.
