Job Description

The Regional Director-Triangle Area is the primary leader and steward of PRN’s mission and values within Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. This position reports directly to PRN’s Chief Operating Officer and drives strategic direction, cultivates partnerships, oversees program implementation, and ensures the effective management of resources to maximize our impact and achieve our organizational goals consistent with our organizational culture, values, and principles. The Regional Director-Triangle Area inspires, leads, and supervises a dedicated team, fosters collaboration with key stakeholders, and represents PRN with integrity and passion, embodying our commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve.

Hybrid Role

Up to 50% travel required

Essential Functions:

  • Articulates the mission, vision, values, principles, and philosophy of Promise Resource Network.
  • Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork; works with HR to recruit, interview, and hire employees. Responsible for ongoing training, supervision, and evaluation of leadership team members in the region.
  • As a member of the leadership team, is responsible for identifying and presenting programmatic or workforce concerns to the COO for discussion and implementation of any necessary or required action for resolution. Action may include a variety of Agency responses and plans, including a change in policy/procedures, a change in program implementation, personnel training, etc.

Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational goals within the region, aligning strategies with the overall mission and vision of the organization.
  • Provide leadership to develop and implement programmatic action plans and service delivery consistent with PRN’s core mission.
  • Supports the executive team in the development of the agency’s sustainability plan to include opportunities for strategic growth, creative partnerships, and new initiatives that yield financial diversity and security and advance the peer and recovery movement.
  • Provides inspirational leadership and direction to the PRN leadership team to ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization; and establish effective decision-making processes that will enable PRN to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer (COO), CEO, and Chief HR Officer (CHO) supports Promise Resource Network’s fiscal, operations, fundraising, marketing, human resource, technology, and programmatic strategies to effectively implement across all segments of region.
  • Communicate PRN’s strategic vision to employees and generate team buy-in to the vision.
  • Assess the agency’s regional programmatic and team trends, gaps, and needs and identify innovative solutions.
  • Recommend improvements and/or adjustments for PRN’s benefit

Programmatic Infrastructure and Operations:

 

  • Program Management: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives in the region, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and effective delivery of services.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of programs, processes, procedures, and operations in the region
  • Develops and oversees the strategic plan for program implementation and workforce development.
  • Develops program action plans based on contract requirements in collaboration with program directors.
  • Formulates proposed workforce development and program implementation policies for CEO and COO
  • Monitors the management of the agency’s programs and service delivery to ensure steady implementation and achievement of identified objectives & outcomes.
  • Supports and motivates PRN’s staff.
  • Oversees program reporting and data tracking activities of the agency under contract requirements.
  • Listens to those served, volunteers, donors and the community to improve services and generate community involvement.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the regional budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources, adherence to budgetary guidelines, and timely reporting to the organization's leadership.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish and implement systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and impact of regional programs, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and program improvements.
  • Ensuring PRN buildings/properties are in good repair, condition, clean, etc. Develop and oversee a process for replacing broken items, furniture, etc., purchasing supplies, repairing damages to properties, and cleaning and upkeep of buildings and lawns.

Program Development:

  • Engages in continuous quality improvement activities to determine the effectiveness and quality of regional programs, program improvement, and operations
  • Supports the CEO’s vision for agency and program growth by operationalizing services/programs related to innovative ideas, models, niche markets and creative ways to enhance recovery-based systems and communities.
  • Resource Mobilization: Lead efforts to secure funding and resources for regional programs and initiatives through grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising activities.

Partnership Development:

  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders to advance the organization's mission and enhance its impact in the region.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Serve as the primary representative of the organization in the region, advocating for its mission and priorities, and representing its interests in relevant forums, committees, and meetings.
  • Conduct community outreach to ensure familiarity with resources and organizations in the area and develop/facilitate presentations regarding PRN’s values, programs, access, etc.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to regional staff members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and ensuring effective team performance and professional development.
  • Provides a minimum of bi-weekly formal and documented supervision meetings with program managers and supports development of their knowledge and skills related to programmatic day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrates the flexibility to successfully work with different kinds of individual personalities in a supportive and constructive way regardless of possible differences in personalities or viewpoints.
  • Maintains a positive work culture by remaining solution-focused while demonstrating a positive attitude in all interactions by setting a Recovery tone within all programs by exemplifying leadership traits and qualities such as patience, tolerance, equity, positive support, and mutual respect.
  • Onboarding & training new program managers.

Professional Development:

  • Identifies and obtains educational and/or training resources to ensure professional growth and skill development.
  • Obtains required training and/or professional development required to maintain professional licensure and/or certification.
  • Remains current in knowledge of external factors (funding, legislation, and trends) that will impact programs and services.

Position Specifications and/or Education:

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience in program management, preferably in the nonprofit and/or human service sector as well as supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit sector/ human service organization and program operations; knowledge of projects management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem-solving; knowledge of the methods and procedures of program development and implementation.
  • Preferred Certified Peer Support Specialist.
  • Awareness of Recovery and civil rights movement for individuals with MH and SA issues.
  • Has excellent project management skills and the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems.
  • A working knowledge of the implementation of government-funded grants and contracts.
  • Strong skills related to a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Lived mental health and/or substance use disorder experience.
  • The ability to effectively handle the stress of a high-powered position.
  • Strategic thinking, political savvy, problem solving, and ability to maintain PRN’s reputation in the community
  • Sound financial management skills
  • Ability to work independently, be internally motivated, and operate with integrity to PRN’s values, processes and procedures
  • Highly committed to the mission and values of PRN, valuing shared lived experience and uplifting principles of recovery, harm reduction, and centering disability, human and civil rights in decision making
